Wrecked McLaren that killed driver and passenger reignites at Southern California tow yard
The crashed McLaren that claimed the lives of James Wehr and Lexi Kramer caught fire on its own at a Costa Mesa tow yard late Wednesday night.
Authorities reported that the supercar, which had been stored after the fatal crash, spontaneously ignited at a facility in Costa Mesa that is contracted by the Irvine Police Department to hold vehicles involved in collisions. Surveillance footage shows sparks appearing on the wreckage, followed by dense smoke that filled the garage until the camera view was lost. The incident occurred more than a month after the original accident that killed Wehr and Kramer.
