Xi Jinping to join SCO summit in Bishkek and make first Egypt state visit in a decade

China's foreign ministry confirmed that President Xi Jinping will travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. At the gathering, Xi is expected to explore ways to strengthen cooperation and address key international and regional challenges alongside other member states. He will also hold bilateral discussions with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and take part in various official events.

After the summit, Xi will proceed to Egypt for a state visit, his first to the North African nation in a decade. In Egypt, he will meet President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to exchange views on their countries' ties and shared concerns in the region and beyond. The itinerary runs from August 30 to September 3.
