Yandex Pay partially restores transfers after Ukrainian drone attacks on its data centers
Yandex Pay has re-enabled transfers and payments for many users, though some features remain unstable after drone strikes damaged three of its data centers.
After Ukrainian drones hit three of Yandex's six data centers in the Ryazan region, Kaluga and Vladimir, Yandex Pay announced that many customers can now see and manage their funds again. Dmitry Pirogov explained that the service is being restored step by step to handle the load, but some operations may still fail. Engineers had to reconstruct the system to preserve the company's principle of replicating transaction data across multiple sites.
The outage also affected other Yandex services and client applications. To support users, Yandex Pay introduced special conditions for savings accounts and loan payments from October 11 to 17. The company cautioned that the platform remains unstable and asked users to be patient with any remaining glitches.
Why it matters
Millions rely on Yandex Pay for everyday transactions, so its partial recovery impacts users' financial access in the region.
