Yellow warning issued for strong winds and warm temperatures across western Norway
The Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow alert for strong southeast winds and unusually warm air in Rogaland and Hordaland, with gusts up to 25-28 m/s and temperatures reaching about 25 °C in parts of the west.
A yellow weather warning has been issued for inland Rogaland and Hordaland as the Meteorological Institute expects southeast wind gusts of 25-28 m/s from night through Wednesday, with mountain areas possibly experiencing a small storm. The strong wind could blow loose items, topple trees, block roads, and force bridge closures, while also increasing the risk of power cuts. At the same time, unusually warm air is moving onto the west coast, lifting temperatures to around 25 °C in northern Vestlandet and Møre og Romsdal and exceeding 20 °C in parts of Trøndelag and Nordland.
Bergen is forecast to see about 24 °C and sunshine. On-duty meteorologist Patrick Stoll warned of large local variations, especially where wind descends from the mountains. The alert stays active until 11 a.m. Thursday, and a separate system of rain over the sea may bring clouds but no significant precipitation to land.
