Yemeni forces claim gains in Marib as Houthi attacks kill civilians in Taiz
Yemeni government troops report capturing strategic heights in Marib governorate, while intense Houthi shelling in Taiz has caused civilian deaths, including a five-year-old girl.
Yemeni government forces, operating under the Saudi-supported "Dawn of Yemen" campaign, announced the seizure of high ground surrounding the Maas camp in Medghal district and the capture of al-Muqailat and Jabal Zajjar north of Harib, marking a strategic push into Marib governorate. Military spokesperson Colonel Majid al-Nuzaili said 1,879 precise strikes have neutralised 950 Houthi fighters and destroyed 380 combat vehicles.
Meanwhile, in Taiz, Houthi forces continued heavy mortar, artillery and rocket attacks on civilian areas, killing five people—including five-year-old Ahlam Abdulsalam—and injuring dozens, while also striking al-Safwa Hospital and damaging the al-Saeed Mosque. The Yemeni Ministry of Public Health warned that medical supplies and fuel in Taiz are nearing depletion. Rights monitors documented 43 violations by Houthi forces in the past 24 hours, citing over 180 projectiles fired at residential zones. The fighting has intensified across multiple fronts, with government troops also reporting the capture of 81 Houthi fighters in al-Dhabab.
