Yinson Production secures four-year extension and $600 million backlog for Ghana FPSO JAK

Yinson Production and Eni Ghana have amended their contract, extending the FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor lease to 2036 and adding a major gas-handling upgrade.

Yinson Production (West Africa) and Eni Ghana Exploration and Production have signed a contract amendment that extends the lease of the FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor (FPSO JAK) by four years, now running until 2036. The deal also mandates a substantial non-associated gas modification project to enlarge the vessel’s gas handling and processing capabilities, supporting Ghana’s regional energy security. Upon completion, expected in Q1 2028, Yinson will install two topside modules: the MG2 module with gas-turbine-driven compressors and the MC4 auxiliary gas-treatment module.

The amendment adds an incremental day rate through 2036, increasing Yinson’s firm contract backlog by roughly US$600 million. CEO Flemming Guiducci Gronnegaard said the project strengthens offshore infrastructure, boosts gas export capacity, and extends the field’s economic life. The amendment does not alter the company’s share capital or ownership structure but is projected to improve earnings and net assets per share.
