Yomif Kejelcha shatters half-marathon record in Buenos Aires
Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha ran 56:51 to set a new men's half-marathon world record at a World Athletics road race in Buenos Aires.
The 29-year-old Ethiopian broke the previous mark by 29 seconds, surpassing Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo, who had lowered the record earlier this year. Kejelcha's performance follows his earlier world record in the 10,000-metre road race and a sub-two-hour marathon finish in London, where he placed second to Sebastian Sawe. The new time awaits official ratification by World Athletics.
Why it matters
