Young America’s Foundation to Open Reagan Film Set Museum in Dixon by 2028

Young America’s Foundation announced a museum in Dixon, Illinois that will showcase sets and props from the "Reagan" biopic, with a planned opening in 2028.

Young America’s Foundation is partnering with the "Reagan" movie to create a permanent museum in Dixon, Illinois, featuring full-scale recreations of the Oval Office, the Situation Room, the Soviet leader’s office, and the Hilton Hotel wall where President Reagan was shot, plus hundreds of props from the biopic. The project adds to YAF’s existing care of Reagan’s boyhood home in Dixon and the Rancho del Cielo ranch in Santa Barbara.

YAF president and former Wisconsin governor Scott Walker said the museum will let students and families experience Reagan’s Midwestern upbringing and the ideas that shaped his presidency. Producer Mark Joseph noted that the artifacts will let visitors “experience the story of Reagan’s humble beginnings.” The museum follows a 2024 local premiere of the film that attracted most of the town and featured lead actor Dennis Quaid, who praised the small-town connection. The museum is scheduled to open in 2028, and a director’s cut of the film will be released nationwide on September 25.

Why it matters

It creates an educational site linking a popular film to Ronald Reagan’s historical legacy for visitors and students.
