Young champion skier found dead in California hot tub, family seeks answers

Holden Parazette, 26, a rising star in competitive skiing, was found drowned in a hot tub in Huntington Beach, California, on July 9. His parents, Andy and Danielle Parazette, said investigators have ruled out drugs and alcohol in the incident. The local coroner’s office confirmed the case is still being examined.

Parazette grew up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, joining the local ski and snowboard club at age six and later capturing a U19 giant slalom championship at the Junior Nationals. He graduated from Middlebury College with a physics degree in February 2024 and was studying mechanical engineering while skiing for the University of Utah. Teammates praised his memorable laugh and calm perspective, noting his focus on enjoyment over accolades. The family continues to seek answers as the investigation proceeds.
