Young dealer sentenced to six years for Yorkshire heroin and crack phone network
A 23-year-old was convicted and given six years in prison for operating a phone-based heroin and crack cocaine supply line across West and North Yorkshire.
Operation Phoenix investigators traced a phone operation that moved 2.23 kg of heroin and crack cocaine between West and North Yorkshire, estimating its worth at £223,380. The investigation led to a warrant execution at a residence on Sladen Street in Keighley, where officers seized the line’s handset, several phones, large quantities of heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine, cash, electronic scales, packaging material and a knuckle-duster stun gun.
The 23-year-old suspect, Abubakr Ahmed, was charged with supplying and intending to supply heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine, as well as possessing criminal property and an illegal weapon. He admitted the offences, and the court dismissed his argument that he was forced to act because of a drug debt. Detective Inspector Helen Chapman highlighted the operation’s role in fueling broader crime, and Ahmed received a six-year custodial sentence at Bradford Crown Court.
