Young man shoots officer, steals police car, flees on Slovenian highway
A 21-year-old man shot a police officer, took the officer’s gun and patrol car, and escaped on the A2 highway in Slovenia.
Police stopped the suspect around 9 a.m. after he caused a crash on the Ljubljana ring road. During the stop he seized a police firearm and fired at an officer, then drove off in the patrol vehicle. The injured officer was taken to hospital but is not in life-threatening condition. The suspect was later captured near Radovljica, about 30 km from Ljubljana, and placed in custody. Authorities temporarily closed a school and several public facilities in Radovljica during the operation.
