Young men arrested in alleged attempted stabbing in Joensuu city centre

Around three in the morning on Saturday, a distress call reported a stabbing in the heart of Joensuu. Police officers reached the scene after the alleged attackers had already left, but they were later identified through the victim's and witnesses' accounts. The individuals involved - the suspect(s) and the victim - are all men born in the early 2000s from the North Karelia region and had a prior relationship.

Investigators say a dispute escalated into the knife assault. A police dog located a steel blade near the scene, which is being treated as the suspected weapon. The victim sustained non-critical injuries. Authorities are continuing the investigation and are also looking into possible additional offenses beyond the attempted homicide.
