Young mother of two dies nine months after glioblastoma diagnosis

Kim Borthwick, a 36-year-old mother of two, passed away peacefully nine months after being diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumour. She first experienced severe headaches during the festive period and initially attributed them to exhaustion. Following her diagnosis, she spoke openly about her condition and joined the Brain Cancer Justice campaign, calling on politicians to increase funding for rare cancers.

On Tuesday, her family shared an Instagram post thanking supporters for their encouragement over the past eight months and describing her as a brave fighter. The statement noted she died surrounded by family. Her death highlights the challenges faced by patients with rare, hard-to-treat cancers.
