Young street dancer recovers speech and mobility after life-threatening brain bleed
After a sudden stroke left him unable to speak or walk, North Wales dancer Daniel Parsonage has made significant progress in speech and mobility.
North Wales street dancer Daniel Parsonage experienced a sudden, symptomless stroke that resulted in a dangerous brain bleed. After being rushed to the Countess of Chester Hospital, he was transferred to The Walton Centre where two emergency operations halted the bleeding and allowed his brain to swell safely. Doctors cautioned his family that he might never regain speech or mobility, and he spent weeks in an induced coma.
Since awakening, intensive speech therapy and eight months of physiotherapy have restored his ability to speak in full sentences and walk short distances using a mobility aid. He now aims to be back on the dance floor within six months and appears in a Channel 4 documentary released for World Stroke Day.
