Youth football coaches suspended after on-field fight and alleged racial slurs

A confrontation between adult coaches erupted at a youth football game between Carlynton and Keystone Oaks on Saturday, and the incident was recorded and widely shared. The Steel City Youth Football League responded by placing two coaches on indefinite suspension while it examines video, referee accounts and testimonies. Separate actions by the two clubs resulted in five more coaches being suspended, totaling seven suspensions.

Dequay Canton, head coach of the Carlynton Little Cougars, issued a statement alleging that 8- and 9-year-old players on the opposing side used racial slurs and that the other coach struck him first. He emphasized that the behavior observed does not reflect his personal values or those of his organization, which promotes discipline and sportsmanship. Keystone Oaks has not released a comment, and the investigation remains ongoing.
