YouTube adds "Made with AI" tags to songs generated by artificial intelligence
YouTube will display a “Made with AI” label on tracks that are created or heavily altered using generative AI, starting in its Music app and later on the main platform.
YouTube announced that it will mark tracks that are either fully generated or substantially modified by generative AI with a “Made with AI” label. The feature launches today in the YouTube Music app and will later be added to the main YouTube platform. When a listener encounters such a track, the label appears on the player page and can be tapped to reveal additional information about the AI involvement.
YouTube says it will work with music partners and employ its own detection systems, while also considering undisclosed AI use through other signals. This move mirrors steps taken by other platforms: Spotify introduced a voluntary AI label, Apple Music is adding a similar tag, Deezer offers a filter to hide AI tracks, and Bandcamp has banned AI-generated music outright.
Why it matters
Labeling AI-created songs gives listeners transparency about how music is produced and helps platforms manage emerging AI content.
