YouTube Shopping adds Amazon affiliate links for creators

YouTube has opened its Shopping affiliate program to Amazon, letting eligible creators embed product links and earn commissions.

YouTube’s Shopping affiliate program now includes Amazon, enabling qualified creators to attach Amazon product listings to their content and collect a commission on purchases made through those links. The expansion was disclosed by the platform’s chief executive, Neal Mohan, on the social network X. Eligible creators can add tags to items across standard videos, Shorts and live streams. This development follows a March policy change that lowered the subscriber requirement for participation, opening the program to a larger pool of creators. The company reports that more than one million people have signed up for YouTube Shopping, which has recently launched affiliate options in Argentina, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Why it matters

Creators can now monetize recommendations with Amazon links, expanding earning opportunities and linking viewers to a major retailer.
