Zeekr 7X cracks Australia's top-10 car list with low price and strong demand

In July 2026 the Zeekr 7X, an electric midsize SUV from the Geely-owned Chinese brand, secured the tenth spot on Australia’s best-selling car chart, pushing the Mazda CX-5 out of the top ten. Priced from $57,900 before on-road costs, the model generated more than 2,000 pre-orders before any test drives took place. By August 2026 the vehicle accounted for 9,172 of Zeekr’s 10,070 Australian sales that year.

Customers have praised its design, range of up to 615 kilometres and fast charging, but some have encountered software-related issues and a lack of charging cables due to supply constraints. Zeekr Australia’s head of digital, Andrew Stamatakis, said the company aims to increase its dealer count to 25 by the end of the year and to introduce three new models - the 7GT wagon, the 8X plug-in hybrid SUV and the larger 9X plug-in hybrid - before 2028.
