ZEISS buys Scottish holography specialist Ceres Holographics to speed industrial rollout

ZEISS has purchased Ceres Holographics, a Livingston-based holographic technology company, to accelerate the commercial adoption of holographic windscreen displays.

ZEISS announced the purchase of Scottish holographic specialist Ceres Holographics, integrating the Livingston firm into its Microoptics unit. By coupling Ceres' advanced hologram production technology with ZEISS' existing ProSight platform, the company seeks to fast-track holographic windscreen displays for cars and extend the technology to aerospace, consumer, retail and public-transport sectors. Financial details of the transaction were not released.

Executives highlighted that the merger will leverage ZEISS' global manufacturing scale and customer reach to offer a wider portfolio of holographic solutions. Both parties expressed confidence that the partnership will drive faster industrialisation and open new market opportunities.
