Zelensky outlines air-defence, economic and sanctions priorities in talks with EU and Japanese officials

President Volodymyr Zelensky told EU ambassadors that strengthening air defence, boosting the economy and tightening sanctions on Russia are top priorities, and he also met Japanese Diet members to discuss Russian attacks.

In a Facebook post, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine’s main focus is securing air-defence systems, joint production, financial resilience, EU accession and maintaining pressure on Russia through sanctions. He added that Kyiv will expand coordination formats with foreign partners on policy matters. During a separate meeting, he spoke with members of Japan’s National Diet led by Itsunori Onodera, where they reviewed Russia’s daily terror attacks.

Why it matters

The talks seek to secure vital military and economic support for Ukraine while tightening pressure on Russia.
