Zelensky says he will meet Macron on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly

In a post on X, Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that he and Emmanuel Macron will hold a meeting on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He described the dialogue as a detailed review of the diplomatic process and potential measures to halt the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Zelensky also mentioned a prior intention to meet Donald Trump in New York at the end of September, following visits by American envoys to Moscow and Kyiv.

The United States is seeking to restart mediation that has been dormant since early this year, while European leaders are not directly involved in the talks. Zelensky expressed hope for renewed direct negotiations with Russia after the Russian legislative elections scheduled for mid-September, noting that the Kremlin has not ruled out a meeting in October.
