Zelensky urges European leaders to back Ukraine for pragmatic security reasons

President Zelensky told reporters that European politicians should support Ukraine even from a practical standpoint, warning that without aid they would face Russia alone.

During a press conversation, President Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine enjoys solid relationships with its allies, but political factions in several European nations oppose helping Kyiv. He noted that while most Germans currently favor Ukraine, public opinion can change, and Germany must act to prevent incidents such as the recent drone bomb at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Zelensky warned that Russia's leader may offer dialogue, but without sufficient strength, Russia will try to dominate weaker states.

He urged European politicians to adopt a pragmatic approach, arguing that failing to support Ukraine would leave them to confront Russia alone. The president also pointed out that peace in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Baltic states is a positive outcome that must be preserved through continued assistance to Ukraine.
