Zemmour announces presidential run, vows to declare candidacy this autumn

Eric Zemmour, the head of the Reconquête party, told a TV audience that he intends to run for president and will submit his official candidacy this autumn. He emphasized that he is not a career politician but a presidential contender. Zemmour outlined his "remigration" agenda, calling for the deportation of all foreign inmates, foreign offenders on electronic monitoring, and undocumented migrants.

He also proposed expelling long-term unemployed foreigners who rely on social benefits, setting a threshold of more than six months to a year of unemployment. Referring to a 1945 provision of the foreigner code, he argued that any foreigner who strains public finances should be removed. In the same interview, he praised recent progress in artificial intelligence and reiterated that future robots could replace immigrant workers.
