Zhang Boheng claims Asian Games all-around gymnastics gold over Japanese rivals

At the Nagoya Asian Games, China’s Zhang Boheng secured the men’s all-around gymnastics gold, edging out Japanese competitors Shinnosuke Oka and Daiki Hashimoto. Zhang, 26, said a small injury sustained before the event impacted his routines, but he adjusted his technical elements and grew mentally to overcome the difficulty. Oka entered the competition nursing a back injury that forced him to lower his routine difficulty, relying on injections and an oxygen capsule to compete.

Hashimoto, one outlet world champion, also fell short of the top spot. Zhang, who previously placed second to Oka at the Paris Olympics and to Hashimoto at the latest world championships, now looks to defend his form at the upcoming world championships in Rotterdam. He described the contest as intense and exciting, highlighting the high pressure he faced.
