Zillow and FTC Reach Settlement, Allowing Redfin Back Into Rental Listings
Zillow has settled the FTC's antitrust case, ending an agreement that barred Redfin from its internet listing service and requiring Redfin to resume offering apartment rentals.
Zillow and the Federal Trade Commission have concluded the antitrust action that accused the online real-estate giant of paying Redfin $100 million to halt its internet listing service for apartment rentals. Under the agreement, Redfin will re-enter the market, promising a relaunch with "significantly more listings" to restore competition. Zillow is required to provide Redfin with employee information to aid recruitment and to allow its own customers to renegotiate contracts at no extra cost.

The case, originally filed in September 2025, also involved state attorneys general from Arizona, Connecticut, New York, Virginia and Washington, whose separate suit was merged into the FTC filing.
