Zuckerberg and Chan pledge €150,000 to three nearby Irish GAA clubs

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan will contribute €150,000 to Shamrocks, Tallow and Lismore GAA clubs near their newly bought Strancally Castle, with payments spread over two years.

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, having purchased the 440-acre Strancally Castle estate in County Waterford for $30 million, disclosed a €150,000 charitable contribution to the three nearest Gaelic one outlet Association clubs - Shamrocks GAA, Tallow GAA and Lismore GAA. Each club will receive €50,000, disbursed across two years, as the couple seeks to support the vital community role of the GAA. Representatives described the grant as unexpected yet legitimate, intending to channel the money into better changing rooms, floodlighting, pitch-side fencing, a community walkway and expanded under-age training.

The donation marks the couple’s first philanthropic act in Ireland since buying the historic castle. Club officials highlighted the difficulty of fundraising for small clubs and welcomed the external support.
