Zverev says a solo match would struggle to fill Munich's Allianz Arena
Germany's top tennis player Alexander Zverev said a single match would likely not sell out Bayern Munich's 75,000-seat Allianz Arena.
Alexander Zverev, Germany's leading tennis star, told one outlet newspaper that staging a tennis event at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena would be a logistical challenge because a single match would probably not attract enough spectators. He argued that only a marquee doubles contest pitting Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal against Novak Djokovic and himself might approach a sell-out in a stadium that holds about 75,000 fans.
Zverev admitted he is not a draw comparable to Federer and could not fill the arena on his own. The biggest tennis audience ever recorded was the 2020 "Match for Africa" in Cape Town, which drew 51,954 fans. By comparison, the world’s largest tennis-specific venue, Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, accommodates 24,000 spectators and will host the US Open starting next week.
