2027 Budget Expands Funding for Bumiputera Contractors and Road Maintenance
The 2027 Budget raises procurement allocations for Bumiputera G1-G4 contractors to RM7.5 billion and earmarks nearly RM800 million for federal road upkeep.
The 2027 Malaysian Budget significantly boosts resources for Bumiputera G1-G4 contractors, lifting the dedicated procurement pool to RM7.5 billion, up from RM4 billion the previous year. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi disclosed that almost RM800 million is set aside for federal road maintenance, with RM350 million specifically allocated to contractors operating in Sabah and Sarawak. He highlighted a modest 1.78 percent rise in the overall budget and affirmed that initiatives launched in 2026 will carry forward.
Additionally, RM40 million will fund minor works through district engineers, intended to improve problem-solving at the local level. The minister explained that the slightly lower allocation for Sabah and Sarawak this year reflects the near-completion of projects funded by a larger 2026 boost, and future needs will be reassessed later.
