Alan Jones trial reveals accuser warned another athlete of similar assault

The ongoing trial of former broadcaster Alan Jones at Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court has taken a new turn as “Complainant M” finished his testimony. He recounted that after reading a newspaper story detailing accusations against Jones, he contacted three individuals, including a well-known former athlete, to disclose that a comparable incident had occurred to him. That disclosure was protected by a non-publication order until Judge Glenn Walsh released it on Friday.
Jones, who has pleaded not guilty to 20 indecent assault counts and two sexual-touching charges, continues to deny all allegations. This testimony is the third from a prominent sports figure, adding further detail to the case that has now lasted seven weeks. Earlier reports of the allegations were first published by journalist Kate McClymont in December 2023. The trial remains ongoing.
