American Airlines adds six European destinations, launches first flights to Porto and Vienna

American Airlines revealed a slate of seven new international routes, with six heading to Europe and one to Tokyo. New city pairs include Charlotte-Barcelona, New York JFK-Amsterdam, New York JFK-Nice, Philadelphia-Porto, Philadelphia-Reykjavik and Philadelphia-Vienna, the latter two marking the airline's first visits to those capitals. All European services will be flown on the Airbus A321XLR, a single-aisle aircraft that offers extended range and lie-flat business seats.

The Reykjavik flight returns for the first time since 2019, driven by demand for cooler summer getaways. Additionally, the airline is adding a fourth daily JFK-Heathrow flight, leveraging its Oneworld alliance ties for onward connections. Ticket sales open on Monday, and the announcement comes just days after United Airlines launched ten new international routes, many also using the A321XLR.
