Anti-corruption commission charges Victorian detective with assault on teen
The Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission has filed a common assault charge against a senior constable for punching and kicking a handcuffed teenager during an October arrest in Ballarat.
IBAC announced that a detective senior constable is accused of unlawfully striking a minor who was under 18 at the time of the arrest. The alleged abuse occurred after the teen was handcuffed and compliant, following an incident in Ballarat last October. The officer faces a common assault charge and is slated to appear before the Ballarat Magistrates' Court next month. Victoria Police has been asked for comment on the matter.
