Anti‑migrant activist Danny Tommo detained after Channel boat slashing

Daniel Thomas, known as Danny Tommo, was detained by police after video footage showed him cutting a small inflatable craft travelling through the English Channel while a rescue worker remained on board. He has been charged on suspicion of criminal damage with intent to endanger life and is also accused of breaching Section 53 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act. Authorities say the incident may involve offences under the Aviation and Maritime Security Act 1990 and the Merchant Shipping Act 1995. Around 200 people gathered outside a police investigation centre in Hampshire, many dressed in black and chanting “free DT”, in a non‑violent protest of his detention.
