Apple executives say rivals mimicked foldable aspect ratio but not secret display
Apple’s John Ternus and Greg Joswiak said competitors copied the foldable’s aspect ratio while the iPhone Duo’s unique nano-textured display stays exclusive.
Apple’s new CEO John Ternus and head of marketing Greg “Joz” Joswiak discussed recent foldable-phone copycats in an interview with TechRadar and Tom’s Guide. They noted that leaks had revealed Apple’s work on a foldable device and that rivals such as Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi launched wide-foldable models with the same aspect ratio. Despite the similarity, they stressed that the iPhone Duo’s folding nano-textured display is a unique feature that Apple kept confidential and secured with extra safeguards.
Joswiak described the aspect-ratio overlap as “coincidental,” while Ternus expressed enthusiasm for the prototype, saying “this is what I want.” The conversation underscored Apple’s confidence in its engineering advantage despite industry imitation.
