Asian markets climb as US-China officials agree to AI dialogue, while Indian futures hint at a soft start

Asian stocks rose after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng pledged to discuss artificial intelligence, while India's GIFT Nifty pointed to a modest opening.

Asian equity markets advanced on Monday following a reported positive exchange between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, who agreed to set up talks on artificial intelligence to align goals and address risks. Japan's one outlet 225 rose 1.38% and South Korea's Kospi climbed 1.32% as investors responded. In India, GIFT Nifty futures fell to 23,344, down 35 points, indicating a potentially muted opening for the Nifty50.

U.S. markets showed mixed results, with the Dow slipping 0.18% and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq edging higher. Brent crude futures dropped more than 1% on expectations of renewed Saudi shipments, while gold and silver futures slipped modestly. Several IPOs, including those of Robokidz Eduventures, FX Multitech, and Axiom Gas Engineering, opened or entered final subscription days on the National Stock Exchange.
