Ayanna Pressley, the Boston-based representative linked to the progressive "Squad," emerged as the Democratic nominee for the 7th Congressional District after a primary in which she faced no challengers. The district, encompassing about three-quarters of Boston, is classified by the Cook Political Report as a solid Democratic stronghold, ensuring she will not meet a Republican opponent in the November ballot. Pressley, who has been in office since 2018, joined other Democratic candidates such as state Rep. Tram Nguyen and Senator Ed Markey on the campaign trail, promoting policies like abolishing ICE and Medicare for all.

Throughout the election cycle she maintained attacks on President Donald Trump and the conservative-leaning Supreme Court, referencing recent rulings on racial gerrymandering. While critics highlighted her 2024 financial disclosure showing $8 million in assets and her husband Conan Harris's involvement in a $2 billion state courthouse contract, no allegations of wrongdoing have been made against Pressley herself.
