Ayuso Blames Sánchez for Elderly Woman’s Eviction, Calls Central Govt ‘Undemocratic’

Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid, denounced President Pedro Sánchez at a Círculo de Empresarios forum, linking him to the eviction of 87-year-old Maricarmen, who had lived in the Retiro district for over seventy years. Ayuso argued the court order was enforced by the National Police, which she said is managed by the central government, and that the Madrid administration had no role in the execution.

She accused Sánchez of “encouraging alogaradas,” fostering a climate of tension, and of neglecting housing legislation that, in her view, drives up prices and harms young people. Ayuso also pointed to the high number of evictions nationwide, claimed protests were becoming increasingly violent, and reproached Sánchez for traveling to a UN meeting while Spain faces serious issues.
