Azerbaijan partners with SpaceXAI to pilot Grok AI in public services
Azerbaijan's Digital Development Ministry signed a memorandum with SpaceXAI to explore using Grok AI models for government services and digital transformation.
Azerbaijan's Digital Development Ministry has entered a memorandum of understanding with Elon Musk's SpaceXAI to test Grok-based AI models in public sector applications and broader digital transformation efforts. The deal calls for joint assessments of potential uses across government bodies, pilot projects, technical demos, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to develop local AI skills. Deputy Digital Development Minister Rashad Hasanov highlighted the country's move from AI discussion to concrete implementation at the Baku signing ceremony.
Dustin Yelinek, SpaceXAI's head of global government partnerships and Latin America, said the partnership aims to deliver faster, higher-quality services to citizens. Specific projects will be detailed in separate agreements, with a roadmap to guide future cooperation. The collaboration follows Azerbaijan's 2025-2028 AI strategy adopted in March 2025, which focuses on AI infrastructure, research, and public-service applications.
Why it matters
The deal could shape how AI is deployed in Azerbaijan's public sector and raise concerns about potential misuse.
