Bank of America banker and new mother fatally stabbed in Times Square

Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old alumna of the University of Pennsylvania and Fordham Law School employed by Bank of America, was murdered in a random stabbing in Manhattan’s Times Square. The attack happened near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue on a Wednesday afternoon, leaving Piacenti dead at a hospital and injuring another pedestrian. The perpetrator, identified as a 49-year-old mother of three, was also shot and killed by police after stabbing the second victim.

Piacenti had recently returned to work after five months of maternity leave, having posted a joyful photo of herself with her infant and husband celebrating the baby’s baptism and a second wedding anniversary. Fordham Law and Bank of America released statements mourning her loss and praising her contributions. The tragedy underscores concerns about public safety in crowded city spaces.
