Băsescu says Dan's political deal shields presidency from suspension
Former President Traian Băsescu claimed that Nicușor Dan secured his presidential seat through the political arrangement that enabled Luca Niculescu's new government.
When asked how actively President Nicușor Dan will engage with Prime Minister Luca Niculescu's administration, former President Traian Băsescu replied that the level of involvement is hard to predict. He emphasized that the political compromise that produced the new cabinet also secures Dan's position, removing the risk of a suspension driven by PSD aligning with signatures supplied by AUR. Băsescu suggested only a dispute with Grindeanu could threaten the president. The Niculescu cabinet received a confidence vote of 338 in Parliament, surpassing the 233-vote threshold, and the prime minister was sworn in at the Cotroceni Palace, where he also held his first cabinet meeting.
