Battersea Power Station Secures £280m Refinancing to Complete £5bn Redevelopment
Developers of Battersea Power Station have obtained a £280 million loan, enabling the final phase of the £5 billion regeneration to move forward.
The consortium behind London’s Battersea Power Station has secured a £280 million refinancing package from the same banks that have supported the scheme since 2012, such as Standard Chartered, Malaysia’s CIMB and Maybank, and Singapore’s OCBC. The loan underwrites the final stage of the £5 billion riverside regeneration, converting the remaining 16 acres into roughly 300 residential units and 65,000 sq ft of retail, hospitality and leisure facilities, with work on Prospect Place South slated for September.
Finance chief Chee Sing Siew said the funding reflects patient capital and confidence in the project's long-term value despite a quieter market. The development already includes over 2,200 homes, 800,000 sq ft of office space and more than 170 shops and restaurants, and houses tenants such as Apple, SharkNinja and Foster + Partners. A new Apple Music Hall venue opened with a concert by Elton John last month, underscoring the area's cultural appeal. The refinancing provides a solid financial base for completing the project and aims to generate sustained value for shareholders and the local community.
Why it matters
The loan ensures the completion of a major London redevelopment, creating new homes, jobs and cultural space.
