Seven banks pledge RM15 billion to expand DayOne's Johor data centre
A consortium of seven lenders has added RM15 billion in multi-currency financing to support DayOne's data centre expansion in Johor, Malaysia.
Seven financial institutions—CIMB, Credit Agricole CIB, DBS, Maybank, OCBC, Standard Chartered and UOB—have arranged an additional RM15 billion multi-currency financing for DayOne's data centre project in Johor, Malaysia. The new tranche consists of a US$2.4 billion offshore term loan and a RM5.5 billion Murabahah facility, bringing the total financing secured for the project to RM30 billion after the 2025 commitment. The lenders highlighted the funding as evidence of Malaysia's emerging status as a leading digital-infrastructure hub in the region.
They noted Johor's strong connectivity, robust infrastructure, skilled talent pool and proximity to key markets as key attractions. According to Boston Consulting Group, the Asian data-centre market is projected to grow at a near-39% compound annual rate, reaching 4.2-6.1 GW by 2030. DayOne, founded in 2022 and operating across Asia and Europe, recently filed for a Nasdaq IPO aiming to raise up to US$5 billion at a potential valuation of US$20 billion.

The financing boosts regional digital infrastructure, supporting growing demand for cloud and AI services across Asia.
