Berlin state election poll shows Linke edging ahead of CDU, AfD gains ground

According to the latest ZDF poll, Linke under its top candidate Elif Eralp is positioned as the leading party for the Berlin Abgeordnetenhaus, edging out the CDU by a small margin. The AfD has risen to third place, overtaking the Greens, which have slipped out of contention for the top spot. The SPD, headed by Steffen Krach, has regained some support after a recent legal issue.

Smaller groups like BSW and the Wagenknecht-Partei are projected to hover near the five-percent threshold, while the FDP and other parties remain in the lower tier. The results suggest that any governing coalition will likely involve either a “Kenya-coalition” of CDU, Greens and SPD or a “Red-Green-Red” alliance led by Linke. The incumbent mayor’s party, the CDU, appears unlikely to retain a solo majority.
