BFP dominates most district seats as BARMM holds its first parliamentary elections
The inaugural BARMM parliamentary elections have declared winners for Cotabato City and Basilan district seats, with the Bangsamoro Federalist Party taking the majority.
The first parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao have produced results for Cotabato City and Basilan. Romeo Sema of the Mahardika Party won the first district in Cotabato City, while the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP) took the second and third districts with Naguib Sinarimbo and Tomanda Antok. In Basilan, BFP candidates Rima Hassan, Abrar Hataman and Jay Hataman won three districts, and Pai Sali of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party secured the remaining seat.
Voting in 36 of Basilan's 86 precincts in Maluso was postponed after officials discovered pre-shaded ballots, leading to potential life-sentence sabotage charges. The Commission on Elections is also investigating any candidates linked to the ballot tampering. Overall voter participation in the BARMM parliamentary race was recorded at 84.34 percent.
