Bilawal says opposition cooperation could lift KP governor's rule
PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari warned that governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could end if opposition parties join a joint anti-terrorism plan.
Speaking to reporters in Karachi on one outlet anniversary of the Karsaz bombing, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said the federal government would consider ending the governor's rule and emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if the opposition agrees to a coordinated fight against terrorism. He linked the measure to a proposed joint plan and noted that terrorist incidents now span from Khyber to Khuzdar. The statement follows the centre's recent imposition of direct rule after accusing the provincial administration of abandoning counter-terrorism efforts and after PTI protests demanding Imran Khan's release.
Why it matters
It shows how political cooperation could affect emergency rule and security policy in a volatile Pakistani province.
