BIR official to testify on Vice President Sara Duterte's alleged unexplained wealth
A senior Bureau of Internal Revenue official will appear before the impeachment court to answer questions about Vice President Sara Duterte's finances.
On the 36th day of the impeachment proceedings, the House prosecution panel has called the BIR Office of the Commissioner’s chief of staff, Anne Loraine Garcia-Marquez, as a witness. She is expected to be questioned about the vice president’s and her husband Manases Carpio’s income tax returns and audited financial statements. The testimony targets Article 2 of the impeachment case, which alleges unexplained wealth. Court spokesperson Regie Tongol confirmed the focus on extensive financial documents.
