Senate impeachment court reviews multiple bank accounts of Vice President Duterte and spouse

The House prosecution panel submitted several bank accounts belonging to Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband Manases Carpio to the Senate impeachment court.

During a two-day hearing, representatives from a range of Philippine banks presented records of accounts either owned individually by Sara Duterte and Manases Carpio or jointly with family members. The banks called included LandBank, Asia United Bank, Philippine Savings Bank, Metrobank, Security Bank, BPI, PNB and BDO. The submissions are part of the panel's effort to trace the vice president's alleged unexplained wealth.

Why it matters

The inquiry could reveal whether a senior elected official holds assets beyond what is legally declared.
