Bistrița school stabbing leaves teacher in intensive care and student discharged
A seventh‑grade student attacked a teacher and a 12‑year‑old pupil with a knife at Școala Gimnazială „Ștefan cel Mare” in Bistrița on Monday morning. Police immobilised the 13‑year‑old suspect and placed him in detention, and he was later taken to a local hospital where he suffered a minor cranio‑cerebral trauma before being transferred to the Clinica de Psihiatrie Infantilă in Cluj‑Napoca for psychiatric evaluation. The 28‑year‑old teacher suffered multiple stab wounds to her forehead, lower eyelid and chest and remains in intensive care, while the student was discharged with medical recommendations after treatment for injuries to his scalp, ear and shoulder. The boy’s grandfather says the attacker had been a calm, high‑performing student who became isolated after being bullied, and the family alleges that the school failed to intervene despite parental complaints dating back to fourth grade.
