BRICS Think Tanks Urge Greater Collaboration on AI, Quantum Tech and Digital Infrastructure

At the recent 18th BRICS Academic Forum held in Lucknow, India, scholars and researchers representing the BRICS Think Tanks Council urged member countries to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and digital infrastructure. Participants highlighted the importance of strengthening resilience across economic, social, health and climate systems to support sustainable development as the bloc enters its next phase.

The forum also addressed policy challenges linked to rapid technological change, including the need for skills development, digital security measures and responsible governance of emerging technologies. Education, cultural exchange and people-to-people links were identified as tools for building trust among the nations. Delegates discussed proposals to reform global financial, trade and multilateral institutions, and to enhance the role of BRICS bodies such as the New Development Bank. The council's recommendations were presented to officials from India's External Affairs Ministry.
