Bronx man arrested after passerby identifies him from police video in mother's murder

Bob Johnny Guzman Soto, 33, is accused of killing his mother, Josefa Soto De Carmen, 57, inside their shared Bronx apartment on Grand Concourse near East 168th Street. Emergency responders arrived around 3:30 p.m. on Friday to find her bloodied and unresponsive, with fatal head and torso trauma, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. After the homicide, Soto left the residence and was later seen in a building lobby pushing a suitcase, a moment captured in video released by the NYPD.

A vigilant passerby identified him from that footage and reported him to police, leading to his capture at West 170th Street and Edward L. Grant Highway.
