Carpathian Summit launches in Bukovel with Zelensky hosting regional leaders
President Volodymyr Zelensky opened the inaugural Carpathian Integration Summit in Bukovel, bringing together leaders from eight Carpathian states and EU officials.
From September 18-20, Bukovel hosted the first Carpathian Integration Summit, inaugurated by President Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska. Delegates included Donald Tusk, Aleksandar Vučić, Nicușor Dan and other national leaders, alongside EU representatives and business figures. The agenda focused on deepening security ties, expanding energy networks, improving logistics and fostering economic links across the Carpathian region.
Zelensky stressed the need for a stronger regional policy within the EU. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico withdrew because of a health issue, with Interior Minister Matus Sutaj-Estok attending in his place. Ukrainian officials such as Prime Minister Serhii Kuretskyi, Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk and Culture Minister Tetiana Berezhna also took part.

The summit aims to boost cooperation among Carpathian nations, shaping regional security and economic ties within the EU.
